NEW Maybelline Color Whisper pictures, review & swatches

With Revlon Lip Butters and L'Oreal Colour Riche Lip Balms getting rave reviews from beauties everywhere, it's no wonder that Maybelline decided to put out their version, claiming to be a product of
"Pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel [without any] heavy waxes or oils."
I decided to try Pin Up Peach, a light pinky-peach, perfect for spring.  Lately, Maybelline has been producing products from gels like their Mega Plush Volum' Express (reviewed here) which I adored for it's lightweight feel.  This sheer lipstick-lip balm hybrid is no different.  It definitely feels like, lighter than Revlon Lip Butters, which is fine when you're not eating or drinking, but as soon as I started drinking my morning cup of coffee, I found this product to disappear fast.

This product didn't feel moisturizing, nor did it feel drying.  However, this did accentuate the flakes on my lips, so I recommend exfoliating your lips before applying this product.  Like any tinted lipbalm/lipstick, this can easily be applied without the use of a mirror.  I can't say for sure if this is truly a pigmented product as I chose to trial Pin Up Peach, which is a sheer light color on my naturally-pigmented lips.

I'm a big fan of Maybelline, especially of their mascaras, but I can't say I'm a fan of this.  I prefer Revlon Lip Butters.  Though reviews in the blogosphere say Lip Butters are heavier than Color Whispers, I actually favor the heavier application because I feel that Lip Butters last longer on my lips with eating and drinking.

Bottom line: If you want a truly lightweight tinted lipstick/lip balm hybrid and don't mind constant re-application, check this out.  Otherwise, if you don't want to be bothered with applying especially when eating or drinking, you might want to pass.

  1. Such a shame it didn't last long! I know I wouldn't love this because I'm not one to reapply lipstick... ever.

  2. The shade is adorable, but the flake-accentuating part scares me a little!

    1. I absolutely love Revlon Lip Butters. This is something you should try out. They have pretty good staying power considering they're lip butters, but pigmentation is great for what it is. :)
