Comfortable Matte Lipsticks at a Comfy Price

I'm a lover of both high-end department store and drugstore makeup with lip products and mascaras being my weakness.  I've heard many good things about Kate Moss for Rimmel London lipsticks with the latest rave about the Lasting Finish matte formula.  When I saw these red bullet beauties, I had to bite the bullet and try a few. Though 101 red was screaming "Buy me!," I had to resist (because I have so many reds at the moment) and purchase 101 a bubblegum pink and 107 a rich, dark plum.

The formulation of these lipsticks are creamy and opaque in one swipe.  Though they have a very slight gritty texture upon initial application, I didn't notice the any grittiness once it settled onto my lips.  These lipsticks have a grape candy-like scent and no discernible taste.

I'm a sucker for packaging and these plastic red bullets are adorable.  I especially love the little crown that is embossed on top of the tube.  I feel a little regal when taking these out of my purse.

Number 101 was unfortunately too light on my medium skin tone, but would be a beautiful bubblegum pink for a fairer gal.  107 was a gorgeous deep plum and a great alternative to a vampy lip.  These lipsticks lasted about 4 hours with drinking and left a stain to help elongate wear time.  I wouldn't say that these are drying especially for a matte lipstick, but I would definitely exfoliate and moisturize my lips before application.

Bottom line: If you want to test out matte lipsticks at an affordable price, I suggest you try these out.  These retail for about $5 and can be found at most drugstores that carry Rimmel London.

And now on to my FOTD with 107.  I tried to emulate a Kate Moss type of look with a simple cateye and contouring to make my cheekbones pop.

Doesn't this tee just scream Kate Moss?
