Get Natural-Looking Brows with Pixi Natural Brow Duo

I've been wanting to try Pixi products for a while, especially after seeing my favorite beauty guru Lisa Eldrige use it in her makeup tutorial videos.  Target happens to carry this British brand and I decided to check it out.

I tested this out during a night shift, which I find is the perfect venue to try out products for their long-lasting ability since the air-conditioning where I work tends to make my skin both really dry and oily.  This product contains a pencil on one side and a brow gel on the other.  The pencil portion of this product is triangular-shaped, which I believe is similar to Tom Ford's brow pencil, with one side thicker than the other.

Here's how I use this product: I like to hold the pencil vertically with the thinner part pointing up and swipe this across the inner half of my brows to fill it in quickly.  I then like to flip it with the thicker side up to make to draw thin strokes to the outer half of my brows.

At first swipe, I wasn't too impressed with the color (this product only comes in one shade) because on me, the waterproof pencil swatched as a brownish-black grey, and I like to use a darker brown color on my brows to bring out my hair color because greys tend to look too harsh on me.

I was about to throw in the towel and give up on this when I decided to layer the brow gel on top of the pencil.  I don't really use brow gels, but when I like my brows to look a bit more finished and glam, I like to use Maybelline Great Lash mascara in clear.  When I tried the sheer brown tinted gel, I fell in love.  This is the secret to using this product.  The sheer brown adds the right amount of color to make my brows look natural (hence its name), and I find this gel to keep my brow hairs soft in comparison to Maybelline's product.  I would keep this product if only for the brow gel.  This product lasted about 8 hours on me, with slight fading by the end of my shift.

Bottom line: If you're looking to get natural-looking brows, it's worth giving this product a chance.  Although I don't feel this product would suit lighter-haired ladies, brunettes might find the brow gel just perfect for a soft spring look. You can find this product at Target for $18.
Bare brows
(left brow): No gel // (right brow): With gel
You definitely need to add the brow gel when using this product (right brow)
What products are you using to achieve natural-looking brows? I'd love to try other products. :)

  1. OOO the tip looks like Hourglass Arch! I just laid my hands on Hourglass Arch, and I have been majorly impressed! I used to use powder, but my eyebrows are naturally very sparse so I actually need some more help. Soft Brunete is a great color match for me, and the effect is super natural. It has a spoolie on the other end, though I barely need it since the pencil doesn't look stark or anything.

    1. I've been wanting to try Hourglass but it's so pricey. I may just bite the bullet and give it a shot.

  3. I'm totally sold by your review! I've purchased the Anastasia brow pencil, which I love, but cannot bear to repurchase it at $27. It's just too pricy! I think a local store in my town carries this brand. I'll go see if they have this brow pencil! Thanks for the great review!

  4. Wow this Pixi brow pencil looks amazing- I love how it makes your brows look really natural yet full! I'm not sure if they have this in Australia yet because I haven't seen it around. So tempted though but it is quite pricey!

    1. It is a little pricey for the drugstore but much cheaper than my Dior Brow Styler (my HG brow pencil).
